Everton have been hit by the news that star man Richarlison missed training on Thursday ahead of their clash with Chelsea at the weekend.

The information was provided by Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers, who took to Twitter to inform people that the Brazil international was not involved in the session.

Richarlison has caught fire in recent times under Marco Silva, and were he to not be fit to face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon it would be a huge blow to the Toffees.

The former Watford attacker has been influential in recent Everton victories, and they can ill afford to be without him as they head to Stamford Bridge to take on a side who have still not been beaten under Maurizio Sarri.

Richarlison bagged a brace against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, but he did seem to pick up an injury in that match and it could be that his absence from training has come as a result of that.

The 21-year-old has six goals in just 10 appearances for Everton since his big money move from Vicarage Road in the summer, and was likened to Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry by one pundit after the victory over the Seagulls.

He is one of the top scorers in the Premier League, and has already gone some way to justifying the huge transfer fee Silva convinced the Toffees board to shell out on him.

It has not yet been determined why the attacking star sat out training on Thursday, but the fact that he was not involved so close to the next match has to be something of a concern.

Silva is due to address the media for his pre-game press conference on Friday, and the reason for the absence is expected to come to light then.

Everton fans will be praying it is only a precaution, and that their exciting superstar is able to line up at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
