Wolves extended their lead at the top of the Championship table on Friday night thanks to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Fulham.

It took Nuno Espirito Santo’s side just nine minutes to break the Cottagers’ resistance, when Romain Saiss got on the end of Barry Douglas’ corner delivery to head the home side in front.

The Scottish left-back racked up his second assist of the night, when his fantastic delivery from a free-kick was nodded home by the league’s top scorer, Leo Bonatini, who bagged his 10th Wolves goal of the campaign.

The Mollineux side were rarely threatened by a Fulham outfit who have struggled to recapture last term’s form that saw them end the season in the play-off positions and currently find themselves at the wrong end of the table, in 16th place.

Wolves’ victory over the Cottagers has given them a bit of breathing space over nearest challengers, with Nuno’s men holding a two-point advantage over Sheffield United following Saturday’s fixtures.

Whilst much of Wolves’ impressive start to the campaign has been down to the brilliance of Bonatini, the performance of Douglas on Friday night showed that the Molineux outfit are more than just a one-man team.

The left-back’s impressive assists for both goals showed the quality the home side possesses all over the pitch, and after the full-time whistle had been blown, the Wolves faithful were quick to take to Twitter to praise the defender’s impressive performance – here are some of the best tweets:
