Charlton Athletic’s Joe Aribo is definitely on Steven Gerrard’s radar as one of his important summer signings, due to the important position he can play for Glasgow Rangers, with the star being linked with the Ibrox outfit all summer long.
The rising star is an extremely versatile midfield player who fits perfectly into one of the main pieces in Gerrard’s jigsaw puzzle, and he can land him without paying a sizeable transfer fee.
Rangers will undoubtedly have to compete with other sides to land Aribo, but he is a top-quality young player who scores goals and assists others.
Charlton will surely have tabled a deal to Aribo to try and keep hold of him, but it looks like an exit from the Football League club is likely.
A tall rangy footballer who is smart on the ball and very effective in the final third, Aribo’s goals were pivotal in Charlton’s promotion to the Championship last season.
Working with Gerrard would be an amazing opportunity for midfielder Aribo to improve as a player, the same way Glen Kamara has improved beyond belief with the manager’s help.
If Aribo goes to an English club then Charlton would get a fair valuation of what he is worth, and if he goes to Rangers then the club only receive a small fee.
Rangers know he can play well and score goals in England’s League One, but can he replicate the same form or even better in Scotland?
