Everton have announced on their official website that midfielder Nikola Vlasic has left the club to join CSKA Moscow on a permanent deal, and their fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

The Croatian ace spent time with the Russian outfit last season, and impressed enough to secure a much longer stay as he gets set to leave the Toffees after a spell at Goodison Park which never really got started.

Vlasic arrived at Everton from Hajduk Split as a highly rated prospect back in 2017, but he struggled to break through into the set up on Merseyside and with the club ready to embark on a second spending spree in as many summers, his chances were only going to reduce further.

It is expected that the Toffees boss will secure the permanent signing of Andre Gomes in the coming days which will have left the Croatian even further down the pecking order, so a move away was in the interest of both parties.

Vlasic will leave Everton having made fewer than 20 appearances for the Goodison Park outfit, all of which came in his first season on Merseyside.

The Toffees are looking to establish themselves as a top six club under their Portuguese boss, so we can expect a raft of high calibre signings to come in this summer, and although finances are in a good position, departures were inevitable to help fund them.

There doesn’t appear to be many Everton fans that are too upset with the loss of the Croatian.

Most of those who commented about Vlasic leaving saw it as a good bit of business for the Merseyside outfit, not only freeing up a space in the squad for more established men to come in and fill, but also getting a decent fee which can be put to use to strengthen over the summer.
