Leeds United returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon when they beat Birmingham City 1-0, and after the match their fans lauded their match winner.

The Whites went into the contest in indifferent form after a couple of poor results leading up to the international break, so it was important for the Yorkshire outfit to come away with the three points in front of their own fans.

It is hard to say that it was Leeds’ best performance under Marcelo Bielsa, but sometimes it is all about getting the job done, something they managed to do with perseverance, and a bit of quality in the end.

The match was a bit of a stalemate for the first-half, with the Whites not having much luck in front of goal, and that forced a change at half time, a switch which had the desired effect, and allowed the Elland Road club to control the game in the second period.

Bielsa brought Leeds loanee Eddie Nketiah off the bench at the break, which gave the home side a different dynamic and they were rewarded 20 minutes later, when they scored the only goal of the game.

Good work from Jack Harrison saw the ball fall at the feet of the popular Kalvin Phillips, and he fired home to earn what could be a big win for the Whites when the tallies are totalled up at the end of the campaign.

The midfielder rarely needs to do anything special to be loved by the Leeds fans, but a winning goal in a match as important as this was always going to do the job.

Plenty of supporters took to social media after the victory to laud their match winner, and show how high a regard he is held in by them.
