West Ham United host Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night in a Premier League fixture that both teams will be looking to take three points from.
Both The Hammers and The Seagulls have an identical record in the top-flight this season, with two wins, two draws and four defeats from their eight matches, with both teams having a slow start.
However, Slaven Bilic’s men have started to pick up form at the right time, having gone unbeaten in their last six, and the Croatian is determined for the momentum to continue for as long as possible.
The London Stadium outfit will have to make do without some of his key men for the tie with Chris Hughton’s men, making the evening more difficult than it could already be.
“We have a couple that are out because of injury,†he told a press conference, as reported by the club’s official website.
“James Collins is out for a matter of days and Sakho has a back pain. He didn’t train since Burnley so he’s out of Friday’s game. They could both be back for the Spurs game.â€
The striker’s position has become a headache over the past couple of weeks for the manager, as Andy Carroll begins his suspension after being shown a red card during their 1-1 draw with Burnley last weekend, whilst Javier Hernandez is doubtful for the visit of The Seagulls.
“Chicharito had a slight problem but he’s training at 4 pm and he should be good to train with us,†he added.
“It’s not a big thing. He trained and he felt a little bit of a tight hamstring, so we scanned it which was important, and the scan was completely clear. He missed Wednesday’s light session and we expect him to train today and, based on his feeling, to be OK.â€
“Adrian had a stomach problem for a couple of days, but he is OK now and should train with us.â€
Bilic also appeared to confirm that Toni Martinez would not be involved on Friday night, although he noted that he had been showing good form and making a lot of improvement.
“Martinez is showing good form,†he stated.
“He’s been with us a couple of times, in pre-season, and is improving a lot, but we have enough options so he will probably not be in the squad.â€
