West Ham United return from the international break with a clash against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, and they will be able to call upon two men to help them into battle.
The Hammers completely lost their way leading up to the two weeks off, so it came at a good time for a whole number of reasons. They were able to take stock of where they were going wrong and formulate a plan to put it right, but most importantly it gave them time to get some big players back to full fitness.
It has worked too because West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Mark Noble and Michail Antonio have recovered enough to be involved against Spurs, which should give the London Stadium outfit the required boost to get their season back on track.
The Hammers have missed the leadership of the influential central midfielder while he has been out of the side, so his return will be a huge positive.
Antonio has been out since he picked up a hamstring injury against Newport County in the Carabao Cup in September, but he is often a key cog in the attacking wheel of the West Ham side.
The Hammers boss confirmed the pair will be included in the early kick off clash, when he addressed the media ahead of the contest.
“Both of them worked with the whole week without any problem,” the West Ham official website quote him as saying.
“They will be involved in the game on Saturday.
“Of course, they are important players for us. Antonio has had a long injury and he is a player that makes a difference in attack. Mark Noble is the captain of the team too. Both of them will be in the squad list and are able to play.”
The match with Spurs is always a high profile one for West Ham fans, many of whom will be turning up hoping their side can burst the Jose Mourinho bubble, in his first game in charge of their rivals.
