West Ham United are planning a £4 million move for Basel defensive midfielder Taulant Xhaka, according to The Mirror.
The Hammers are expected to be busy in the January transfer window as Slaven Bilic looks to bolster his squad for the second half to eh 2016-17 season.
West Ham started the campaign in awful form by three consecutive Premier League victories have powered the London Stadium side up to mid table.
Xhaka has plenty of experience playing in his native Switzerland and in European football, with the 25-year-old admired for his workmanlike qualities in the centre of midfield.
The Swiss star can also fill in at the back if required and is the brother of Arsenal star Granit.
The report suggests that West Ham are considering a January offer and Xhaka’s addition would add an extra option for Bilic to select from in the boiler room.
West Ham face Leicester City on Saturday and will hope to keep their strong run of recent form going against the Premier League champions.
