West Ham United put in a rousing performance at the London Stadium on Saturday to nullify an in-form Everton side and record a hard-earned point in a 0-0 draw.

The Hammers had chances to win the game but it was the defensive cohesion and team effort, missing for large portions of this season, that stood out.

Slaven Bilic’s men went into the game with a terrible playing record against Romelu Lukaku, who had scored in his previous nine appearances against the London side.

However, a steadfast West Ham defensive showing kept the Belgian striker quiet and gave the fans reason for optimism.

While a number of players were impressive in the fixture, James Collins was the toast of the town among Hammers fans on Twitter after the game.

The Wales international has been in fine form in recent weeks and continued this against Everton, putting in an uncompromising performance to have the club’s supporters waxing lyrical.
