Premier League trio West Ham United, Watford and Fulham are all believed to be interested in signing French forward Gregoire Defrel, according to Sky Sports.
The striker is currently on loan with Sampdoria from Roma, and has impressed many judges with his six Serie A goals in 18 appearances for them so far this term.
West Ham are known to be in the market for an attacker, with injuries depriving them of a number of options including Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko, while Andy Carroll is rarely to be trusted to remain fit.
The Hammers have already added former Manchester City star Samir Nasri in recent times, and it would appear that Manuel Pellegrini has not stopped his winter signings just yet.
Watford are another side who are looking to bolster the amount of forwards at their disposal in January. They create a number of chances but don’t convert enough of them, and Javi Gracia is expected to bring his own man in to find the back of the net as often as possible.
The other side wanting attacking players in this transfer window is Fulham. Claudio Ranieri needs goals in his team if he is going to keep the Cottagers in the Premier League.
He has Aleksandar Mitrovic in good form this term, but his other options are not really firing, and that is going to have to change in the second half of the campaign in order for the Londoners to survive the drop.
The 27-year-old carries a big reputation with him, with Ranieri knowing all about him with his Italian contacts so it could be that Fulham will be the favourites to sign Defrel, especially as their need is so great, but whoever ends up landing him will have to fend off some significant competition in order to bring him to England.
