West Bromwich Albion are locked in a battle to sign highly rated Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong this summer and are open to paying £8 million for the impressive Bhoys star, according to The Express.
The report states that the Baggies want summer recruits and sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old on Friday night as the Glasgow side beat Aberdeen 3-1 at Pittodrie.
Armstrong has been an important member of Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, scoring 14 league goals in 24 starts for the Scottish champions.
West Brom already have the Scotland international’s countrymen Darren Fletcher and James Morrison in their ranks, with the report suggesting the midfield duo have recommended the Celtic star to their club.
Rodgers will hope to hold onto all of his main players this summer as the Parkhead side look to make more of an impression in the Champions League next term.
However, the allure of playing in the Premier League could well appeal to Armstrong, with the report also stating that Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion have been keeping an eye on him.
It also says that West Brom are willing to offer Celtic £8m for the star and would pay the midfielder £30,000 per week in wages.
