West Bromwich Albion want to add Aston Villa’s Rudy Gestede to their attacking options in January, with The Sun stating that Tony Pulis’ men will launch a £6 million offer for the striker.

The Baggies are light in the final third currently, with Salomon Rondon the only recognised number nine of note available to The Hawthorns outfit.

As such, West Brom are expected to add firepower to their ranks in January and have supposedly identified Gestede as a potential recruit.

The Benin-born star is renowned for his ability in the air and handled himself well in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals for a struggling Villa side.

This term Gestede has found that he is not a regular starter for the Midlands outfit and has only got the nod to play from the first whistle seven times in 2016-17.

Despite this the 28-year-old has netted four goals in the Championship as Steve Bruce looks to get the Villa Park club back to the top flight.

The appeal of Premier League football could well be enough to convince Gestede to part company with his current employers, while Villa have other options in the final third and as such could allow the towering centre forward to depart.

  1. Nooooo thanks, proven that he’s not great in the Prem, whether he was in a bad side or not-Championship is his level, he’ll just be a worse Rondon, no differentiation in playing style!
