Troy Deeney’s agent has quashed transfer rumours linking Watford striker with a move to West Ham United.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a switch to the Hammers, however with the Hornets understandably reluctant to lose their club captain his representative has insisted the attacker is happy at Vicarage Road.

“I heard the rumour this morning; it’s not true, not even close,” he told the Watford Observer.

“There’s no interest at the moment and Troy is just interested on playing for Watford and trying to get in the England squad.”

West Ham are struggling to score goals and failing to recapture last season’s form, where they qualified for the Europa League by finishing seventh in the Premier League.

Injuries to Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll, combined with a poor start to life in England for Simone Zaza, have resulted in the Hammers languishing just a point above the relegation zone and desperately needing a proven goalscorer.

Deeney is attracting attention after an impressive start to the season and netting 13 times during the 2015-16 campaign, with his partnership with Odion Ighalo a standout for the Hornets.

A section of the Vicarage Road faithful are calling for their skipper to get international recognition but so far this has fallen on deaf ears.

  1. Thank god for that-£30m and not even an international, besides the fact he’d have to play along side disrespectful players week in week out.No thanks!
