Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul could spend the rest of the current season on loan at Premier League side Watford, according to Sky Sports.
The Netherlands international was farmed out to Ajax in his homeland for the first half of the campaign on a temporary basis, but the latest report suggests that the Eredivisie outfit could send the stopper back to Tyneside.
Watford have been relatively busy in the January transfer window to date, with talk that the Hornets will be active on deadline day.
The report states that Walter Mazzarri wants cover between the sticks and could bring in Krul on a loan basis for the remainder of the campaign to provide competition to first-choice goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
At a time the Newcastle man was adjudged as one of the Premier League’s best in his position, but injuries and a struggling Magpies side have seen his star fall.
The North East club look odds on to be promoted from the Championship this season, which could spark Krul to return to Rafa Benitez’s squad next season.
