Lionel Messi played an essential role in Argentina getting their World Cup Qualifying campaign back on track, scoring once and creating two others as his nation beat Colombia 3-0 on Tuesday night.
The Barcelona attacker has been in devastating form so far this season and opened the scoring in San Juan with a sensational free-kick, which can be seen below.

Arsenal’s Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina was left clutching at straws as Messi’s effort flew into the roof of the visiting net, much to the delight of the crowd.
The current Ballon d’Or holder followed this up with two assists for Lucas Pratto and Angel Di Maria in the victory.
Argentina have toiled in the campaign to date and it is clear to see that Messi will be essential if the South American giants are to recover and qualify for the World Cup in Russia.
The Barcelona star is favourite to retain his Ballon d’Or prize in January, which would mean he had won the prestigious accolade on a record six occasions.
