Newcastle United bounced back from their 3-0 defeat at home to West Ham United when they drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening, and after the match their fans reacted to a special performance from one of their heroes.

The Magpies went into the match needing a result after the disappointment of the weekend, and their supporters were soon in clover when Salomon Rondon converted a precise and perfect ball from Jacob Murphy after just 19 minutes.

Ultimately Newcastle were unable to hold out until half time, as an Everton onslaught was impossible to keep at bay, but importantly they maintained parity after Richarlison’s equaliser to come away with a well-earned point.

One of the reasons for the Magpies being successful in avoiding defeat was their stopper Martin Dubravka, who had a magnificent game.

The keeper, who joined Newcastle from Sparta Prague for just £4 million in the summer, was in fine form and made a string of superb saves to keep the Everton front line at bay.

This was not the first time the custodian has earned the Magpies valuable points, he was immensely influential in their rise up the table in the second half of last season during an initial loan spell at St James’ Park, and could be about to ensure history repeats itself.

The highlight of the night for Dubravka was a point blank save from Toffees forward Cenk Tosun, which maintained equilibrium for Newcastle shortly before half time.

The Slovakian stopper has been a popular man among the Magpies fan base almost from the day he joined the club, and performances like the one he produced at Goodison Park will ensure that remains the case.

They were quick to praise the Newcastle keeper on social media when the full time whistle blew on Merseyside, with all of them very appreciative of such a key man.
