Tottenham Hotspur will look to build on their excellent win in midweek when they host Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, but they will be without three key men for the contest, according to their official website.
Spurs went to Serbia and gave Red Star Belgrade a good beating on Wednesday night, as confidence looks to be returning for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Tottenham delivered a much more emphatic performance than we have seen from them for a while, with new signings shining, and some old boys returning to form ahead of a busy time in the season.
Spurs will now look to get their Premier League campaign back on track, against a Sheffield United side who have surprised plenty this term already, and who should not be dismissed lightly.
Tottenham will be expected to come out on top in the clash at their new stadium, but they will have to do so without Jan Vertonghen, Erik Lamela and Hugo Lloris, all three of whom miss out with injury.
While Spurs have cover for all three, Pochettino will want as many of his squad as fully fit as possible, as the hectic Christmas period looms large on the horizon.
Vertonghen and Lamela have both been struggling with hamstring issues recently and have succumbed to them for this match, while Lloris is still recovering from the injury he sustained in that bizarre incident at Brighton a few weeks ago.
The big positive for Spurs in midweek was the display of Giovani Lo Celso, and the debut for the club of Ryan Sessegnon, both of whom were brought in during the summer to strengthen the London outfit in key positions.
The pair will be hoping Tottenham boss Pochettino rewards them with a start against the Blades, which will create even more attention on his team sheet than there has already been this term.
