Tottenham Hotspur head to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, looking to protect a 1-0 lead in their Champions League quarter final against Manchester City, and they could have two men available, but will be without four others according to their official Twitter feed.
Spurs seized the initiative in the tie when a Son Heung-min goal was enough to win the first leg at their new stadium last week, and now comes the time where they have to defend it.
Tottenham will head into the game with the comfort of having kept a clean sheet eight days ago, which means that if they find the back of the net at the Etihad, the current Premier League champions will need to score three times to deny them.
Spurs have had a horror run of injuries in recent times and they will be without four players for this second leg. Harry Kane had been ruled out in advance, and he will be joined on the sidelines by Serge Aurier, Eric Dier and Harry Winks, all of whom are injured for this huge showdown.
To be fair to Tottenham, they have fared pretty well without the England ace so far this season and they will hope to do so once again here, and secure themselves a semi-final clash with Ajax Amsterdam.
Spurs will be helped in that quest by the potential return to action of Erik Lamela, and confirmation that Dele Alli is fine to play, despite having broken his hand in the first leg last week.
The latter missed the 4-0 thumping of Huddersfield Town on Saturday to ensure he would be available for the Etihad trip, and he was part of the party that travelled to the game.
Tottenham might head to Manchester with the advantage, but they may well need their season’s best to repel what comes at them, and extend this European adventure further.
