Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has expressed his admiration for France international team-mate Paul Pogba, claiming that the 23-year-old has the potential and the qualities to become one of the world’s best players.

Despite becoming a world-record signing at £89 million upon his return to Manchester United from Juventus during the summer transfer window, the central midfielder has so far struggled to impress in his first few appearances in the Premier League.

Pogba has received heavy criticism from pundits and fans alike for his dismal displays, however countryman Lloris is convinced that his compatriot is set to come to life after scoring a stunning match-winner against Holland this week.

“Paul is very involved in the France team and again he really showed his quality this week,” the Spurs man told ESPN.

“There is so much expectation surrounding him because of the price tag but if he keeps working hard he will reach the level he wants to at United.

“He is a warrior in his mind – even if he looks relaxed most of the time. He is of course very talented. But in football that on its own is not enough – he is also very strong mentally, and very ambitious. He will improve step by step.”

Lloris’ comments follow France’s warrior-like display in their 1-0 away win at Holland during a World Cup 2018 qualifying match on Monday night and it seems as though the goalkeeper is a big fan of Pogba.

After putting in a real workman like performance for Les Bleus, Jose Mourinho will hope that his expensive summer signing can start to show his best form at Old Trafford.
