Tottenham Hotspur forward Erik Lamela has thanked fans for their support on Instagram after it has been revealed he will be out for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old hasn’t played for the London side since October due to a hip injury and he will miss the rest of the season and have surgery after failing to make a full recovery.

“I’ll face this challenge with a positive attitude and can’t wait to get back with my team and be stronger,” he said in a post on Instagram.
“Thanks everyone for your support!”
Lamela only managed a disappointing two goals in 14 appearances before he was ruled out early on this season, having netted 11 times and provided 10 assists in 44 games by comparison in the last campaign.
Many fans are said to suspect that his injury is not the only thing that is keeping him out of the side and it is thought that his time at White Hart Lane may be up having not made the impact hoped since joining from Roma back in 2013.
The Argentine’s absence does not seem to have hindered Spurs, who sit second in the Premier League heading into the final run-in.
Although catching leaders Chelsea seems unlikely, they should secure a Champions League place for a second season running, following a disappointing exit in the group stage this term.
