Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the best player in the Premier League according to club team-mate Jan Vertonghen.
The England international centre forward has been a revelation for the North London outfit since breaking into the team’s starting XI and finished last season as the division’s top goalscorer.
Kane has been in sublime form of late, scoring at will for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but picked up an infuriating ankle injury against Millwall in the FA Cup last weekend.
The star striker is expected to be on the sidelines for at least a month, meaning that Tottenham will be without their offensive talisman for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Southampton.
Vertonghen has been singing the praise of his team-mate in the lead up to the clash with the Saints, stating that Kane is the best player in the English top flight.
“It’s a blow, of course,” the Belgian told Sky Sports.
“Harry is for me the best player in the Premier League.
“He’s a miss for us but we do have a lot of options and we saw that against Millwall, and when he was out before in October I think.”
Pochettino will have to decide whether to play either Vincent Janssen or Son Heung-min as the furthest man against Southampton.
