Tottenham Hotspur are ready to splash the cash to bring Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic to the Premier League, according to Calcioinsider.com
The America international is one of the hottest properties in Europe, and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to spend big to bring him to White Hart Lane, as he looks to take the London outfit to the next level.
Pulisic is regularly being linked with some of the biggest sides on the continent, with Manchester United among those often attributed to wanting his services, but it appears that Tottenham are ready to launch a bid for the player.
The 19-year-old, who can play as a winger or in a central attacking midfield role, is said to be valued at somewhere in the region of £40 million, which historically might have been beyond the amount Spurs would normally pay for a signing.
That might be set to change though with Pochettino demanding the backing from his board that he needs to elevate the club into a position where they can not only win trophies domestically, but also on a wider scene such as in Europe.
In order to do that then the depth of the Argentine’s squad needs to be significantly improved and Pulisic would look to be a good place to start, as he would be able to compliment the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane in attacking areas.
Spurs are likely to face significant competition for the services of the American, but the reputation that Pochettino has for giving young players a chance and trusting them within his set up could mean that Tottenham would have the edge over some other clubs who may be chasing him.
If the White Hart Lane boss gets the backing he craves over the summer it could be an exciting transfer window for fans of the club, and were they to attract someone of the calibre of Pulisic next season could be one to really look forward to as well.
