Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs that could sign Adrien Rabiot this month and have already met with his agent, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.
The France international has fallen out with is current club, Paris Saint-Germain, and will not sign a new contract, meaning he will become a free agent this summer.
Barcelona are known to be interested and were reportedly hoping that Rabiot would sign a pre-contract agreement with them to secure his signing in the summer.
However, the report claims that four other clubs, including Spurs, have met with the player’s representatives this year with a view to him joining them this month.
According to Sport, Tottenham are “willing to reach” a deal with PSG for Rabiot to make the move to England in the coming weeks.
The two clubs have good links having done a deal last January which saw Lucas Moura arrive for a fee of around £25 million.
Prior to that, PSG sold Spurs Serge Aurier for a similar fee in August 2017.
The newspaper also claims that two other Premier League clubs and one Serie A outfit are among those to have spoken to Rabiot.
While the Frenchman is a certainty to leave PSG in the near future, his next destination appears to depend on how keen he is to get away quickly.
If Rabiot desperately wants to move during this window, then Barcelona will likely be disappointed – and the possibility that he will switch to the Premier League increases.
With Spurs expecting to lose Mousa Dembele in the coming weeks, the club may see the Frenchman as a welcome possible addition to their midfield ranks.
