Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Lazio left-back Jordan Lukaku and are ready to make a move for the Belgium international according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old full-back is the brother of Everton centre forward Romelu Lukaku and moved to the Italian giants over the course of the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has instilled Danny Rose as his first-choice left-back at White Hart Lane, with Ben Davies acting as an able deputy when the England international is unavailable.

However, the latest report suggests that the Argentine coach sees Lukaku as an upgrade on the Wales international and will look to add the former Anderlecht man to his squad in the next transfer window.

Davies started against West Brom on Saturday and has always performed admirably when called upon by the North London club.

Lukaku played a part in Belgium’s Euro 2016 campaign and would join compatriots Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen in the Spurs ranks.

Davies has been linked fleetingly with a move to Chelsea in the last six weeks or so, with the former Swansea defender an able operator at Premier League level.

If Spurs did sign Lukaku it would represent something of a shock given that he just moved to Lazio over the course of the summer.

  1. Utter bollox!! Davies is more than capable of playing for us. Why would we move on a British player, who is perfectly at home in the premier league to take a gamble on bringing someone in from abroad.
