Tottenham Hotspur have booked in a medical for Giovani Lo Celso, with the club confident of confirming a deal for the Argentina international before the transfer window closes at 5pm, according to Football Insider.
Spurs’ reported pursuit of the South American schemer has been dragged out for the entirety of the summer but it now appears that the North London outfit are set to land their man.
Lo Celso impressed for Real Betis last season and has forced his way into the Argentina international set-up also.
With Christian Eriksen’s future unclear, the La Liga ace would be an ideal long-term replacement for the Tottenham star and landing him will be a boost for Mauricio Pochettino.
The report suggests Lo Celso has travelled to London to undertake a medical and will join on a loan-to-buy deal.
This will reportedly involve a £14 million loan fee, with the obligatory purchase of the player for £37 million if Tottenham qualify for any European competition next season.
Spurs will hope that Lo Celso is not the only new face that arrives at the club on transfer deadline day and will feel confident about the campaign ahead if new signings can be landed today.
