Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to smash their club-record transfer fee to land Schalke playmaker Max Meyer, with Bild claiming the London club have bid €45 million (£38.4 million) for the star on deadline day.
The sublime attacking midfielder is adjudged as one of the rising stars of German football, with the 20-year-old dazzling the Gelsenkirchen crowd with his skill, vision and ability to score goals.
Meyer has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, but it has usually been his former Schalke team-mate Julian Draxler that has been accredited with sparking an interest in England.

The Germany international was part of the national side that lost out to Brazil in the final of the Olympic Games this summer but he has also been capped by Joachim Low’s senior side.
A superbly gifted playmaker, Meyer’s potential addition at White Hart Lane would send reverberations through English football and give Mauricio Pochettino a mercurial new player in his attack.
