Tottenham Hotspur have made an inquiry for Fenerbahce midfielder Eljif Elmas, according to a report published by Turkish Football.
The Lilywhites reportedly scouted Elmas three times during the past season and this came when he was in action against Besiktas and Basaksehir, as well as against Trnava in the Europa League.
The Macedonia international is a bright young talent and Fenerbahce will naturally want to keep him, but they do need to sell players this summer in order to comply with FIFA Financial Fair Play Regulations, which could work into Tottenham’s hands.
The Turkish giants have valued the player at around €20 million, according to Turkish Football.
The report adds that should Spurs push to sign the player, they may have to compete against the likes of Napoli, Fiorentina and Inter Milan.
Due to his talent, Elmas is not going to be short of offers this summer, regardless if Tottenham make an attempt to land him or not.
Due to their status as a Premier League side, as well as the fact that they will be competing in the Champions League, there is no doubt that Spurs would be an attractive destination for the youngster.
In addition to this, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has a good reputation for the way in which he works with young talent and this is also something which will be of appeal to Elmas.
Spurs need to bolster their side this summer if they want to challenge for major trophies next season. A move for Elmas would be a step in the right direction for the North Londoners.
