Tottenham Hotspur have offered €23 million (£19.3 million) for highly rated Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Ivorian battler has impressed this term in Serie A, scoring goals from midfield and dominating proceedings for the modest Italian side.

It is Kessie’s first campaign in Italy’s top flight but the African star is already being linked with a big-money move to some of Europe’s top teams.

The report suggests that Juventus are not willing to meet the former Cesena loanee’s asking price and as such it will be a straight battle between Spurs and Premier League rivals Chelsea for his signature.

It also states that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have already made an opening offer for the starlet and are keen to bring him to White Hart Lane.

Kessie is similar to Victor Wanyama in his style of play and as such he looks like an ideal fit for Tottenham – but just where he would fit into the White Hart Lane team remains to be seen.

  1. Why not..Poch prefers to further build up younger Kane.
Even though an enforcer..kessie can double up as an attacking there are always too many games to play..esp towards the last lap.
