Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier could be set for a shock move to AC Milan, according to Calcio Mercato.
The Spurs right-back has been targeted by the Italian club, who still have until Monday 2nd September to complete their transfer business.
Whether Tottenham are approached will hinge on whether Andrea Conti departs Milan, as the Italian outfit have identified Aurier as one of their top targets to replace their right-back.
Reports suggest that Conti is set to join Werder Bremen after being informed that he is not part of the club’s future plans, which will place Spurs on high alert.
Tottenham have already lost Kieran Trippier during the summer, and were looking to offload Danny Rose prior to the Premier League window closing before the current campaign kicked off.
Aurier was set for a starring role in Mauricio Pochettino’s side before picking up an injury while on international duty for the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
Now, the 26-year-old could be set to depart, with Italian giants AC Milan looking to bring the right-back in before the European window closes on Monday 2nd September.
Aurier cost Tottenham £26m in 2017, and has started just 22 Premier League games during his two seasons with the London outfit.
It would be a strange move from Spurs if they were to allow the fullback to depart, given that there is no time for Pochettino to bring in a replacement.
Given that Rose didn’t secure a move away from Tottenham before the transfer window closed, he could reignite his chances of first team football if Aurier did move on though.
Milan would need to at least repay the £26m that Spurs invested in the Ivory Coast international if they were to be taken seriously, as Pochettino does have plans for the defender this season.
