Tottenham Hotspur are set to send Argentine centre-half Federico Fazio on loan to Roma, with scope for a £3.4 million permanent move to the Italian capital in 12 months time according to The Daily Mail.
The former Sevilla centre-half arrived at White Hart Lane in 2014 to work alongside compatriot Mauricio Pochettino but has largely been a fringe figure in North London.
Fazio was handed a run of games in the team, but a lack of pace was the South American enforcer’s downfall and resulted in criticism from the Tottenham fans.
Spurs currently have one of the Premier League’s most solid central defensive pairing in the form of Belgian duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, with Kevin Wimmer also in contention for a starting berth.

As such, Fazio did not feature in the league for Pochettino’s men in 2015-16 and spent a short spell back on loan at Sevilla.
It appears that the 29-year-old’s tenure in North London is set to come to an end and Spurs will move on without the three-times capped Argentine in 2016-17.
Pochettino will be safe in the knowledge that holding midfielder Eric Dier is a natural centre-half and as such he has plenty of options at the heart of his rearguard.
