Tottenham Hotspur cruised past APOEL Nicosia in their final group match of the Champions League by defeating the Cypriot side 3-0 at Wembley Stadium, however, fans were not all pleased on social media.

Spurs finished top of their group ahead of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in what was dubbed the Group of Death, and Mauricio Pochettino will be looking for his side to take confidence from their final position.

The Tottenham boss, already knowing his team had secured top spot and had qualified for the next round of the tournament, decided to ring the changes, as he wanted to give some of his fringe players a chance and to see what they could do.

Things started well for Spurs when Fernando Llorente got his first goal for the club since arriving from Swansea City 20 minutes into the game, before Heung-Min Son continued his fine start to the season with another strike before half-time.

Tottenham were in complete control over their opponents from the beginning and finally added a third ten minutes from the final whistle when winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou netted in what was a rare start for the young Frenchman.

However, despite the positive result and performances from players that do not usually get much game-time, fans decided to rip into Dele Alli for his display.

The England international has been far from his best in recent Tottenham matches, having been heavily criticised by the White Hart Lane faithful, but Pochettino decided to give him ago.

That move did not work in Alli’s favour as fans continued to take to Twitter to vent their frustrations over his performance, believing he did not offer the Spurs side much going forward.
