Tottenham Hotspur started 2017 with a bang, beating Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road on Sunday to take the North London club into the Premier League top four.
Mauricio Pochettino sent his side out with a three-man defence, with Kieran Tripper filling in at right wing-back for the suspended Kyle Walker.
The former Burnley man has had to bide his time since moving to White Hart Lane, with it unfortunate that England’s first-choice right-back is ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, Trippier took his opportunity against Watford to impress Pochettino and the travelling support.
The forward-thinking defender provided assists for both of Harry Kane’s first-half goals and put in a mature performance both on the front foot and defensively.
Trippier’s quality is a testament to the strength in depth in the Tottenham squad currently and the Spurs fans were quick to acknowledge the hard-working full-back following the win at Vicarage Road – here are the best tweets.
Soooooo happy for Trippier and Son, big performances from both vs Watford!! #THFC #COYS

How good is Trippier technically though. His first touch and crossing is unreal. Good option to have in these sort of games… #COYS 🤔

The service from Trippier on both goals gets better and better every time I watch them.

Rumour has it Kieran Trippier failed all his exams in school because he put crosses into every box. #COYS pic.twitter.com/WdMJxHcSCJ

Expected a win today, though was worried about Kyle/Jan not playing, but to be fair, Wimmer solid and Trippier MOTM. #COYS #THFC #WATTOT

Trippier's crossing was immense, a shame he doesn't get more opportunities…Nice problem to have though.
