Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on the contract situation of Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard, according to The Mirror.
The England international attacker is said to have been in negotiations with the Old Trafford side over a new deal for some time, but as yet there has not been a confirmation of the player committing.
Tottenham have put English players to the front of their transfer plans since Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival at White Hart Lane, with a host coming through the youth academy and Dele Alli a notable acquisition.
The Argentine coach has stated in the past that he wants to add speed and penetration to Spurs’ options on the flanks, with Moussa Sissoko added for this purpose but not living up to his £30 million price tag.
While the likes of Wilfried Zaha has been mentioned as a possible summer target for Tottenham, Lingard would also fit the bill should he not be able to reach an agreement on a new contract at United.
However, it surely would take exceptional circumstances for Jose Mourinho’s men to agree to sell the English star to their Premier League rivals this summer.
