This has led to a host of Premier League sides and Juventus being linked with Kessie, while Spurs are now reportedly ready to enter the race for his signature.
Mauricio Pochettino already has comprehensive options in the heart of his team, with Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele, Harry Winks and Eric Dier in consideration for a starting berth.
However, Kessie, who has been likened to Yaya Toure, looks to have the ability to play in a number of positions across the midfield and could even operate further forward behind a loan striker.
The report suggests that Paul Mitchell had initially recommended the Atalanta man to the North London club before leaving White Hart Lane and Pochettino is now looking into signing the Ivory Coast star.
