A report in the press stating that key Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has a £25.4 million release clause in his contract at White Hart Lane has been rebuffed by the Premier League club, according to The Mirror.
Talk late on Monday had stated that the Belgium international could have an escape route in his Spurs contract, with Football Leaks making the claim.

However, as per The Mirror, this has been vehemently denied by Mauricio Pochettino’s men, which will come as great relief to the North London outfit’s fanbase.
Alderweireld has been a revelation since moving to Tottenham in the summer of 2015 and was an integral part of a miserly Spurs defence last season.
The former Southampton loanee has been on the sidelines with a knee injury in recent months, but it is believed that the centre-half is closing in on a return to first-team action.
Alderweireld has struck up an excellent understanding with defensive partner and international team-mate Jan Vertonghen at the Premier League club.
