Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed on their official website that both Danny Rose and Erik Lamela remain sidelined and will not feature in Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Gent at Wembley.
The England international left back hurt his ankle against Sunderland and is said to be a couple of weeks away from returning to senior Spurs training.
Lamela has been on the sidelines with a hip knock and although he is making progress, the Argentina international does not have a return date as yet.
Tottenham trail Gent 1-0 after defeat in Belgium last week and will hope that a bumper crowd at the national stadium will help the London side to win the return and progress to the next round of the competition.
Mauricio Pochettino was asked at his pre-match press conference if he would field a full team for the European clash, with the Spurs boss stating that he wants to put a side out that is capable of getting the required result.
“We will try tomorrow to put the best team (out) to try to win like always,” he told the club’s official website.
“For me, football is about the squad, maybe sometimes I repeat too much that it’s about the squad but tomorrow it’s a big opportunity to go to the next round.
“It’s (like) a final, it’s a decisive game for us, we are 1-0 down and now for us it’s (about) trying to get the result and trying to win the game.
“We will try to put out the best players that we believe can win the game and bring us to the next round.”
