Tottenham Hotspur are set for a transfer battle with Chelsea for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, according to The Sun.
Despite it looking like Middlesbrough are going to be back in the Championship next year, the 24-year-old has been impressive in their back line this season and has caught the eye of some big Premier League clubs.

The defender joined Boro’s youth academy in 2005 and graduated to their first team squad five years later in 2010.
After several loan spells away from the club at Plymouth Argyle, York City and Tranmere Rovers, he returned to the Riverside Stadium in 2013 and established himself as a part of the senior side, making 33 appearances in all competitions.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has now reportedly identified Gibson as an option as he chases a new centre-back to play alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen next term in a 3-4-3 formation.
Whilst the Englishman may leave for a lesser fee if Boro are relegated, with Chelsea also linked Tottenham could have to shell out on a huge contract offer to tempt him to White Hart Lane.
