Liverpool appear to have won the race to sign Timo Werner according to sensational reports coming out of Spain from Don Balon.
The RB Leipzig striker has been at the centre of frenzied speculation regarding his future for many months with the cream of European football vying for his signature including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United.
However, the Spanish media outlet claims that the 22-year-old has chosen to join up with his German compatriot, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to move to the Merseyside giants.
The striker has been in superb form for the Bundesliga side scoring 18 goals along with five assists in all competitions so far this season.
It is understood that Klopp is willing to go all-out to get Werner and is ready to break the club transfer record once again with figures in the region of £88million (€100million) being brought to the table.
It is a bold claim from Don Balon who have a history of making shock claims but they believe that the prolific marksman will spurn the advances of the other clubs to move to Anfield.
Liverpool already possess arguably the most feared frontline attack in football in Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane but Klopp is hell-bent in mounting a Premier League title charge next season and sees Werner as the perfect addition to his strike-force.
It would be a major coup for the Reds if they were to pip the rest of Europe for the hitman who is set to spearhead the German national side as they look to defend the World Cup in Russia in June.
The Reds return to action on Saturday lunch-time when they visit Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace looking for three vital points in their quest to secure a place in the top four in the Premier League.
They then host City on Wednesday night in the blockbuster Champions League quarter-final at what is sure to be a white-hot atmosphere inside Anfield.
