Following last season’s awful showing in the Premier League, Chelsea are a club in need of refreshment and revitalisation.

Here are three players who must improve if they are to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

Victor Moses

After a number of loan spells including at Liverpool and West Ham, Victor Moses has finally forced his way into the Chelsea first-team squad.

The former Crystal Palace man is one of the few ‘successes’ of Chelsea’s questionable loan system and will know he has a lot more work to do if he is to usurp Willian or Eden Hazard from the starting XI.

Now 25, the Nigeria international can no longer be considered a young talent and must begin to repay the faith shown in him by Antonio Conte.

Michy Batshuayi

It was always going to be a tough task for Michy Batshuayi to nail down the starting striker spot at Chelsea, particularly with the imperious form Diego Costa has shown at the start of the season.

The Belgium international has been limited to substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this term, but has looked lively and contributed one goal and one assist in those minutes.

Quick, strong and with an eye for goal, Batshuayi hit 17 goals for Marseille last season – the 23-year-old will need to keep progressing if he is to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge.

Thibaut Courtois

It is time to get back to basics for Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgium international goalkeeper was labelled the next best in the world following his loan stint with Atletico Madrid, even prompting Chelsea to sell club legend Petr Cech to London rivals Arsenal.

However, last season was a poor one for Courtois who now has a lot of work to do to prove he is one of the best.

The 24-year-old angered some Chelsea fans earlier this season with talk of a potential move away from the club when his contract expires and needs to rediscover his form soon if Chelsea are to make a title push this year.
