Unfortunate Glasgow Rangers winger Jamie Murphy has been diagnosed with serious ligament damage and a long recovery period beckons.
The inadequate astro turf of Rugby Park, voted as second worse pitch in Scotland, was blamed.
For Rangers, apart from potentially bringing in another winger such as Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones, who always seems to play well against James Tavernier, there are other solutions utilising the club’s existing talent.
There is the potential for Gers boss Steven Gerrard to bring back ex-Scotland star Lee Wallace and re-instate him to the left back position.
This would allow Borna Barisic to move further forward and operate on the wing for Rangers, with potential for a three-man midfield of Ryan Jack, Lassana Coulibaly and Scott Arfield.
When you see the guiding influence Gerrard has had on other members of the Ibrox squad, it would be interesting to see if the manager could further develop Wallace, who is already tall, fast and has great stamina.
While the potential addition of another signing before the window closes would most likely be the first choice option for Rangers fans, the use of Wallace and Barasic down the left flank could well be a winning combination for the Glasgow giants.
