Swansea City’s attempts to sign Ryan Woods from Brentford have fallen through, but Sam Clucas is set to leave the Welsh club and sign for Stoke City, according to Guardian journalist Stuart James.
The Liberty Stadium outfit have had major changes in their squad over the off-season following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
Been told that the Ryan Woods to Swansea deal is ‘definitely off’. Player ready to travel and do medical, but Swansea not willing to pay the £6.5m fee. And, yes, Clucas is set to sign for Stoke. Feeling within Swansea is that it’s been a disastrous day (not my word).

Swansea had seemingly hoped to boost their chances of bouncing straight back to the top tier by landing impressive Brentford midfielder Woods – but it appears that their attempts have been scuppered.
Landing Woods was seen as a way of offsetting Clucas’ potential exit, with the talented deep-lying playmaker on the way to Championship rivals Stoke.
However, despite the Brentford man no longer heading to the Welsh club, it appears Swansea will still cash-in on Clucas.
With Federico Fernandez also expected to complete a deal to move to Newcastle United and Jordan Ayew wanting to go to Crystal Palace, it has not been a deadline day to remember for the Liberty Stadium side.
Graham Potter has a job on his hands to get Swansea back to the Premier League, with the squad that finished last season considerably different to the one competing this term.
