Swansea City made a last ditch attempt to sign Standard Liege striker Ishak Belfodil just 20 minutes before the end of the transfer window, according to DH.

The 25-year-old, who was a primary target for Everton throughout January, was disinterested with the Swans’ £12million attempt – even though his side had accepted a £10.3m from the Toffees earlier in the month.

However, the Algeria international’s agent claimed that the deal with the Blues was not completed due to boss Ronald Koeman receiving incorrect information regarding the former France youth international, and chairman Bill Kenwright finding the ongoing talks tedious.

Instead Belfodil, who has netted 11 times so far this campaign, extended his current contract at the Belgian First Division A club, but still yet move on in the summer.

Following his unsuccessful bid to lure his first choice attacker to the Liberty Stadium, Swansea boss Paul Clement secured the signature of Ghana international Jordan Ayew from Championship side Aston Villa for a reported £7m plus Neil Taylor.
