Everton beat Arsenal 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and after the match their fans were quickly onto social media to praise one of their players who was key to the victory.

After what has been a difficult campaign for the Toffees, the first one under Marco Silva, things are beginning to look like they are falling into place with this, a third successive win, all of which have been without conceding.

Goodison Park used to be a fortress for Everton, but they have not always been at their best in front of their own fans this term, which has disappointed all involved with the club, however their reminded their supporters how good they can be against Unai Emery’s charges.

It was an unlikely man who secured the victory for the Toffees, as Phil Jagielka’s early strike was the only goal of the game. In an amazing twist of fate, the former England international would not even have been on the pitch had Michael Keane not pulled out of the line up late on with an illness.

It was Brazil international Bernard who had the Everton fans raving after the match though, having put in one of his best performances since he arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer.

The mercurial magician showed off his flashy feet and his creative side whenever the opportunity arose, but it was his defensive work that caught the eye of the Toffees support inside Goodison on the day, and if he can replicate this performance every week he’ll soon be extremely popular among the Blues’ faithful.

Many of those Everton fans took to social media after the final whistle to comment on his performance, and to praise his influence on what was a fine result for Silva and his men.
