Stoke City are closing in on the acquisition of reported Everton target Bruno Martins Indi, with The Guardian claiming the Potters will land the Dutchman on a season-long loan deal from Porto.

The powerful defender has been linked with a move to Goodison Park consistently this summer since compatriot Ronald Koeman took over at the Merseyside club.

Martins Indi is a versatile enforcer that is most comfortable at centre-half, but the robust defender also has experience of featuring at full-back.

The 24-year-old is a product of the fabled Feyenoord youth academy but moved to the Portuguese club in 2014 for a fee believed to be in the €8 million range.

Martins Indi has over 30 caps for the Netherlands and experience of playing in the Champions League, with Stoke seemingly set to benefit from his abilities.

Everton may well regret missing out on the defender, especially as Koeman seemingly plans to play three at the back this season.
