Stoke City are believed to be on the verge of landing Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on loan, with The Telegraph stating that the France international could spend 2016-17 at the Britannia Stadium.
The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-half has been embroiled in controversy of late, as he failed a drugs test before the end of last season.

Sakho is also thought to not be on the best of terms with Jurgen Klopp, with the German trainer questioning his attitude and discipline.
The summer signings of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klaven have bolstered the Reds’ options at the back for 2016-17 and as such the Frenchman looks to have slipped down the pecking order at Anfield.
Sakho is yet to feature for the Merseyside outfit in 2016-17 and as such could well be handed a lifeline, and regular football, with Stoke.
On his day the 26-year-old is an imposing figure and would add a physical presence to the already commanding Potters backline.
