The eyes of the world are on Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, with the best player in the world to be crowned at the prestigious event.
Again this year sees a straight shootout between perennial rivals Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lionel Messi is the player with most GOALS (58) and most ASSISTS (34) in 2016.

The Real Madrid star is being touted as the favourite to claim the prize, after leading the Spanish side to the Champions League last season and helping Portugal win Euro 2016.
However, as can be seen above, Messi is the player with the most-impressive statistics in terms of goals and assists this year.
The Barcelona superstar has scored 58 goals in the calendar year and laid on 34 assists for team-mates; the most of an player on the planet.
Messi was unlucky to miss out on Copa America glory in the summer, with Argentina losing out to Chile in the final.
As such, Portugal triumph may well be enough to get Ronaldo over the line, but from a statistical perspective the Barcelona star has had a better year.
