With Jose Mourinho making quite the impression since taking the manager’s role at Manchester United, the Old Trafford squad is expected to be trimmed before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

The Portuguese trainer has add four illustrious new faces to his contingnet, but this means that a number of the existing squad are set to be surplus to requirements.

One man that has been linked with an exit in the last 24 hours has been Daley Blind, with Inter Milan said to be keen to bring him to Italy.

The Netherlands international is a central midfielder by trade, but has operated at both left-back and centre-half in his time with the Manchester club.

However, Blind’s versatility could well be his downfall after Mourinho’s appointment, with the Portuguese trainer wanting defined options in each position and preferring players with physical virtues.

Should Blind be allowed to leave United this summer, Tottenham should be interested in the Dutch star.

The 26-year-old is certainly not a player to set the world alight but he has all the attributes to fit into Mauricio Pochettino’s blueprint at Spurs.

Hard-working and committed, Blind has the ability to operate in a number of different positons, is good on the ball and has excellent positioning.

Pochettino demands these virtues of the players at his disposal at White Hart Lane and the Netherlands international would surely fit right in as a result.

Although by no means guaranteed a starting berth in Tottenham’s team, Blind would act as cover for a number of positions and could well be a shrewd acquisition for the North London side.

  1. He’d be a good option from the bench because of that versatility…..helps cover more bases. He seems to have that knack of not giving the ball away too. Knows there are better players with the ball and gives it to them to hurt teams. If I were in charge of transfers I’d think about putting in a bid for the guy.
