Reports that Liverpool are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama have been laughed at and ridiculed by Spurs fans on Twitter.
The Daily Mail has suggested over the last few days that Jurgen Klopp is targeting the Kenya international to join his squad for next season, but followers of the London outfit do not seem too concerned by the talk.
Steven Gerrard opened up the rumours when he suggested that Liverpool needed a player of Wanyama’s quality and profile, and since then the Tottenham player has been linked with a move to Anfield.
The African has already caught the eye at Merseyside this season when he thundered home a powerful equaliser when Spurs drew 2-2 with the Reds in a Premier League match recently, which will have attracted the eye of Klopp at the time.
Wanyama followed Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham from Southampton in June 2016, and has gone on to make more than 50 appearances for the Londoners in all competitions since he arrived.
He is not as much of a mainstay in the side these days with the likes of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in such good form at the heart of the midfield, but he still sees plenty of game time and would be a big loss to Spurs were he to depart White Hart Lane.
With Pochettino’s men still fighting for both the FA Cup, the Champions League and a significant finish in the Premier League, the powerful midfielder will be an important player for Tottenham over the remainder of the campaign.
There is nothing to suggest there is anything in the rumours, and certainly Spurs fans do not believe there is as many of them decided to respond to the link on twitter with laughter and jovial messages.

This is such a lazy story. Stephen Gerard compliments Wanyama and that is akin to Liverpool monitoring him. Well done for the insight. Harry Kane must be off to United because Rio Ferdinand thinks he's the best striker in the world !

After watching again, I think everyone is being a bit harsh on Toby’s performance yesterday. Wasn’t terrible but obviously not his best. Unfortunately his header to give away the equaliser at the end has overshadowed the rest of his performance throughout the game. #COYS #THFC

Just because you post it more doesn’t mean it becomes any more true lads

This is seriously lazy journalism, Poch wanted him from the second he knew he was getting the job, he'll never be sold under Poch.
