Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has been linked in the press with a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international has struggled under Toffees boss Ronald Koeman this season, leading to speculation that he could quit his boyhood club in January.

The 53-year-old has repeatedly used his press conferences to demand more from Barkley throughout the opening months of the campaign and may look to move him on as he seeks to stamp his authority at Goodison Park.

Spurs would seem a natural fit if the Liverpool-born playmaker does leave, with a strong core of English talent such as Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane already established in North London.

Barkley did notch a late equaliser in Friday night’s 2-2 draw with Hull City but this has not put an end to the rumour mill.

Fans of Tottenham have been giving their reaction to the 23-year-old’s possible arrival on Twitter, and it is fair to say there has been a mixed response.
