Tottenham Hotspur will take a 1-0 lead to Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg after beating their London rivals at home on Tuesday night.
Harry Kane’s penalty midway through the first half was the only goal of the night, although both managers had plenty to say about the VAR system that led to the award.
Chelsea had more possession and almost three times as many shots on goal as Tottenham but could not make that pay and must now overturn a one-goal deficit if they are to progress to the final.
Spurs fans, meanwhile, were pleased with the win even if the performance was not what they would have hoped for.
One player who did impress was Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who made a number of saves to guarantee his clean sheet and keep Chelsea at bay.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino even admitted after the match that his compatriot was his choice for man of the match.
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to praise the efforts of their Argentine stopper, who usually has to play second fiddle to World Cup winner Hugo Lloris.
But last night, he showed – not for the first time – that he has what it takes to star on the big occasions.
Some Tottenham supporters even went as far as to claim that he should be pushing Lloris for a first-team spot in all competitions.
Here are some of the tweets from Spurs fans who were delighted with Gazzaniga’s efforts against the Blues.
Two quick view points from tonight.
1. Hazard is an insane player who’s talent is out of this world.

Not a great watch. Spurs weren't exactly great but they still grinded out a great result. Lads worked hard, gave everything. Just looked a bit jaded. Gazzaniga is a huge plus. Lloris or him is 50/50 now imp #THFC #COYS

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga with another top performance.
The Argentinian made a goal-saving tackle on the brink of half-time where he had to adjust his feet ever so quickly.

I love Lloris & have no agenda against the man but Gazzaniga gives me a feeling of security that I haven't had for a long time with Hugo. I hope Hugo raises his game & we get a good battle for the shirt. #THFC #COYS

However, not everybody was happy and there were a few supporters who are quite content to only see Gazzaniga play occasionally.
For some, his distribution leaves something to be desired, even if his record while playing for Spurs is impressive.
We all love gazzaniga but have anyone seen him actually hit the ball long? #THFC

MOM Gazzaniga? Not sure I was watching same game. Made a decent save from kante and did well on cross shot. He also fumbled a cross, kicked it out of play twice and cleared one along the floor that could have been costly. I like him, but he is being overhyped! #thfc #coys

Thought Gazzaniga overplayed it at times. Everything was in front of them. Opening few minutes Son’s pace frightened their back line. Should have gone more direct at times. #THFC
